Privacy notice

SMMotors Korea (Daegu, South Korea) runs this website. This notice explains what we measure when you use it, why, and the choices you have.

Analytics without cookies

To understand how the site is used, we count every visit without cookies. For each visit we record:

the pages you open and what you do on them, such as cars viewed, searches and filters used (never licence plate numbers), shipping calculator choices and clicks on contact buttons;
your approximate country, region and city, derived from your network connection;
your device type, operating system, browser and site language;
the website or app that referred you, and campaign tags in the link you followed (for example utm_source).

We do not store your IP address, a raw device fingerprint or the full address of the page that referred you. Requests from one browser on one day are grouped by an anonymous key that changes every day, so we cannot recognise you from one day to the next.

If you choose Allow, we set a cookie named smm_vid that holds a random identifier for 13 months. It lets us recognise a returning browser, so we can count returning visitors and see which earlier visit led to an inquiry. If you choose Decline, no such cookie is set and your visits are only counted as described above.

Your choice is stored in a cookie named smm_consent for 12 months. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as Decline.

To change your choice, open Privacy settings at the bottom of any page. After you decline, the smm_vid cookie is deleted on your next page view.

Contact reference codes

When you contact us on WhatsApp or by email from this site, the prefilled message ends with a reference code, for example "Ref: SM-4K7Q9F". The code links your message to the anonymous visit that led to it, so we know which pages and cars lead to inquiries. Once you send a message with the code, we can connect that visit with your conversation. You can delete the line before sending.

How long we keep data

Individual page events: 35 days.
Visit summaries (pages, approximate location, device and source): 13 months.
Contact records with a reference code: as long as we need them to handle your inquiry.
Aggregated statistics, such as daily totals that identify no one: kept.

Buyer accounts: what we store

When you create a buyer account and use it, we store:

the details you enter: your name, country of residence, city, WhatsApp number, email address, the country and port you import to, and the language for our emails;
your password, only as a one-way scrambled form (a hash) that nobody can read back, and when you accepted these terms;
to check where buyers are and to stop abuse: the approximate country and time zone of your connection and your browser's language at sign-up, the country of your connection at each sign-in, the IP address of each signed-in device, sign-in attempt and email-link request, and the browser type of each signed-in device;
what you save and send: favorites, saved searches, turnkey quotes, requests to our team and our replies;
a log of account activity (such as sign-ins, changes and saved items) and of the emails we sent you (type, time and delivery status).

Other buyers never see your details. We don't sell them and don't use them for advertising.

Why we use account data

to create and run your account and keep you signed in;
to check that accounts belong to buyers importing outside Korea: our team reviews every new account, and we limit repeated sign-in attempts;
to answer your requests and contact you on WhatsApp or by email about cars, prices and delivery;
to send the emails your account needs (confirmations, security notices, the result of our review) and the daily new-car email if you keep it on;
to prepare delivery prices to the country and port you chose.

Service providers

These companies process account data for us, only to provide their service:

Vercel: hosts and runs this website, so it handles every request, including your IP address;
Neon: the database where your account is stored;
Resend: delivers our emails, so it receives your email address and the content of each email.

How long we keep account data

Your account and everything saved in it: until you delete the account.
Accounts whose email address was never confirmed: deleted after 14 days.
Signed-in devices: signed out after 30 days without use, and after 90 days at the latest.
Email links: confirmation links work for 48 hours, email-change links for 24 hours and password links for 60 minutes.
Records of sign-in attempts, with their IP address: deleted after 30 days.
When you delete your account, we delete it at once with everything in it, including the activity and email logs. We keep only a note that an account number was deleted and when, without your name or contact details.

Your choices and rights

Download everything in your account as a file at any time (Settings → Your data).
Correct your details in Settings. Once your account is verified, ask us to change your country of residence.
Delete your account yourself in Settings; it takes effect at once.
Turn off the daily new-car email in Settings or with the link in any of those emails. To ask what we hold about you, or to object to how we use it, write to us at the address below.
